Language Levels

A1 Basic

At the completion of the A1 Basic Level, students are able to talk about most everyday activities in the present, express basic desires, and do simple errands. They are able to read basic sentences relevant to their everyday lives and write simple phrases and sentences.


A2 Basic

When students finish the A2 Basic Level, they are able to talk about everyday activities in the present, past, and future. They are able to read short narratives, directions, and labels, and write simple sentences linked with connectors such as “but”, “and”, and “because”.


B1 Intermediate

Students at the completion of the B1 Intermediate level are able to read short, simple blogs and news stories, identify main ideas and supporting details, and write simple paragraphs on familiar topics.


B2 Intermediate

Students at the completion of the B2 Intermediate level are able to read short articles, identify implied main ideas and details. They are also able to write on a wide range of topics. They are able to write essays giving reasons to support a point of view.


C1 Proficient

Students at the completion of the C1 Proficient Level are able to read research articles, synthesis different author’s ideas, and write well-structured essays defending a position. They are able to write in a style appropriate to the readers.


C2 Proficient

Students at the completion of the C2 Proficient Level are able to research topics in their field of study and write academic essays effectively to persuade others.
